The core of the work is based on creating a sound instrument. The second version has a very long body made from highly polished light-reflecting aluminium repurposed from a 2016 drum sound piece that still shows its ‘scars’. It is carefully constructed/ formed using the artist’s engineering background mediated by art and personal history. The body bears calligraphy-like marks reminiscent of the Harmon on blades in Japanese swordmaking. The Needl
